Zhihe roundtable facilitators
At Zhihe roundtables, each facilitator plays three key roles: curriculum designer, discussion leader, and knowledge sharer.
Each facilitator freely designs and refines a course centered on reading, critical thinking, and discussion based on their expertise and interests. We expect courses with these qualities:
Participants' expression, inquiry, and intellectual growth are the core purpose of Zhihe roundtables. Facilitators are not lecturers; their job is not to “teach well” but to organize discussion so participants express their views and train critical thinking.
Open discussion still calls for depth. Facilitators draw on their expertise to clarify concepts, add context, and build on the discussion. For example, a discussion of rights can lead into Hobbes, Locke, and Rousseau. Share knowledge after discussion or when a conceptual obstacle or factual question needs clarification.

Five camps, five ways to learn together locally
Participant profiles are based on previous events or surveys of potential participants; actual attendance may differ.
January 18–22, 2027 · 2–3 facilitators
Youth space, Cili County, Zhangjiajie, Hunan
Participants: Mainly university students returning home, with possible participation by local residents.
Humanities, social sciences, arts, and applied technology are welcome, with an emphasis on accessible, engaging practice. Avoid purely theoretical or highly technical topics. Local fieldwork, outdoor activities, workshops, public sharing, and trying a day as a shop manager are encouraged. The space opened during Spring Festival 2025; past activities can be found under 住所无定.
January 25–29, 2027 · 4 facilitators
A cultural space in Shiqi Old Town, Zhongshan, Guangdong
Participants: Mainly local adults and university students returning home.
Participants generally have strong reading skills; abstract inquiry and demanding texts can be appropriate. Popular areas include philosophy, history, literature, psychology, anthropology, arts, and music. STEM literacy, AI, theater, games, and interdisciplinary courses are also welcome. Nearby cafés, restaurants, bars, and neighborhood spaces offer opportunities for co-creation and local practice.
January 25–29, 2027 · 4 facilitators
An educational institution in Guiyang, Guizhou
Participants: High school students, university students, and young adults of different ages.
Topics connected to everyday life in anthropology, sociology, philosophy, and history of science are popular, as are theater, film, contemporary art, cultural studies, and accessible statistics or economics. Avoid obscure or overly niche topics. Allow for varied backgrounds with patient, inclusive dialogue, and consider the city and its natural surroundings as part of the classroom.
January 26–30, 2027 · 4–6 facilitators
An educational institution in Shifang, Sichuan
Participants: Mainly local high school students and university students returning home.
Many participants are accustomed to lecture-based exam preparation. Start from their real concerns and build engaging discussions that broaden perspectives. Literature, history, and arts offer promising starting points, alongside science literacy and theater. Use vivid examples and interaction to support abstract topics or demanding texts. Local teachers will help refine course design, so leave room for collaboration and revision.
February 15–19, 2027 · 4 facilitators
A reading space in Honghuagang District, Zunyi, Guizhou
Participants: Students and young adults of different ages.
Emphasize thoughtful organization, shared inquiry, interaction, and connections to lived experience rather than fixed conclusions. Hands-on activities and outings are encouraged. The small venue has a bar and kitchen, with riverside bars and food stalls nearby. Humanities, social sciences, and arts are popular; accessible science topics with a human perspective are also welcome.

Submit your basic information and course outline through the questionnaire. A fully detailed outline is not essential, but please include as much as possible:
Daily reading should take no more than 60 minutes. Winter roundtables generally have fewer than 15 participants, last 2–3 hours per session, and run for 3–5 days.
02Interview
1–14 days after application
If your application shows alignment with Zhihe roundtable values and solid basic disciplinary literacy, we will invite you to an online interview including:
Zhihe commits that interview staff will not know your age, gender, school background, or work history in advance, and will not actively ask for this information during the interview. Evaluation covers syllabus design, academic ability, and discussion facilitation.
03Admission
No later than 10 days after application deadline
All applicants will be notified of admission; if admitted, please confirm promptly.
04Training
December 2026–January 2027, before the winter camps
All facilitators will receive approximately 6–8 hours of teaching training and camp guidance. Please watch for further notices.
